St. Luke’s Medical Center- Global City Hospital Tour + APMC-SN 12th Medical Student Summit
Strolling around the country’s most advanced hospital, gave flashbacks of my tween years (Circa 200x), daydreaming about what I could and will be in the future. Fast forward to the present, a not so distant 2017, I am in St. Luke’s Global City, now a 3rd year medicine student and a delegate covering for the country’s annual medical student summit. 🙂
My heart skipped a beat. It just hit me, I do am getting closer and closer to the “daydream”.
So much of the mushy stuff, with that I want to personally share with you, the highlights of my Medical Student Summit and St. Luke’s-Global Hospital Tour experience!
Relive MSS again! Keep scrolling! 🙂
The Association of The Philippines Medical Colleges- Student Network, 12th Medical Student Summit Day 2 was held at St. Lukes Medical Center- Global City, last October 29, 2017.
The delegates were first greeted by radiology consultants in the lobby of the premier hospital.
Is it a mall? a hotel? No, it’s Saint Luke’s Medical Center.
Our group was toured around the Department of Radiation Oncology.
The beautiful artwork is anatomically incorrect, because of the fused forearm bones (radius and ulna), but it is the artist’s goodwill and meaningful creative expression of the human body, that made the department still hang it in the reception area.
Here, the consultant explained to us the evolution of imaging technology of the hospital.
We were also able to enter in the Dark Room, were Radiology Consultants doing the bulk of the work; But we were not allowed to film because of patient’s confidentiality. Still it was a real nice experience, because we were able to see real time CT pathologic images, and radiologists in action. 🙂
After the visit, we took a photo with the consultants who toured us around. Another lovely experience checked.
Just before the Quiz Bee started, I explored around the hospital.
Some CPC participants prepping in the lobby.
I can just chill and review all day here.
One thing’s for sure, aside from the world class medical interventions, Saint Luke’s Medical Center’s design and architecture are also as aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
Said a short prayer for the patients in the hospitals and participants of the competition.
The 12th Medical Student Summit was entitled “BUKLOD: Excellence through Empowerment and Service”. This year, the APMC-SN aimed to establish a future Filipino doctor by empowering medical
students and improving competence through its sessions and activities.
I was able to attend Day 2 of the summit and brain cells were all firing everywhere because of the 2 main event: the Inter-Medical School Quiz Bee and Clinico-Pathological Conference.

Congratulations to all the winners, representatives, and organizers, coming from different medical schools! Everyone did a really good job!
CPC for sure has taught so many lessons to everyone who were able to witness, plan, coach, and present; it will always be a learning experience, to everyone who took part of it.
Dr. Jan Monzon, PLE 2017 2nd Placer, with the Transcend Team.
And, that’s our crew. Our school’s delegates had so much fun in the summit. 🙂 Even if there will still be an exam the next day, I will definitely trade my weekend again for this experience; I know for sure I will never get once more, back from the 4 corners of the classroom.
Summing up MSS in a whole, it deliver well, its aim to establish empowerment to medical students across the region. Kudos to everyone behind the summit!
I hope through this content you enjoyed MSS as much as I did!
